"I'd wholeheartedly recommend the MyPlus Universities webinars to any fellow career professionals or employer engagement colleagues. This morning's webinar was extremely comprehensive and practical with specific examples to bring all the advice to life. A rich Q&A also added great value. Thank you. Look forward to the next one!"  Lorraine Chambers, Careers Consultant, Heriot-Watt University

Over three-quarters of disabled students prefer not to share information about their disability with potential employers. This hesitation often prevents them from requesting the support they need to succeed in the recruitment process and, in some cases, leads to rejection.

Drawing on research* into the topic of openness this workshop will help participants understand the challenges disabled students face regarding disclosure, explore how these concerns can be addressed, and equip them to guide students on when and how to share information with employers.

In this interactive session, we will:

-Explore why employers ask about disabilities and how they use the information

-Uncover the reasons behind students' reluctance to disclose their disability

-Discuss the benefits of being open and the risks of not disclosing

-Build confidence in advising students on whether, when, and how to disclose

-Share practical tools to help students prepare for discussions about their disability

Attendees will also hear firsthand insights from students who will share their personal experiences of being open with employers about their disabilities.

The session will be delivered by Helen Cooke, CEO and Founder of MyPlus, and will include opportunities for discussion, questions, and the sharing of best practices.

Please note that in order to create an inclusive environment where everyone feels comfortable speaking and contributing, we do not record our webinars.
